Titel der Arbeit
ROAD CUT THROUGH A HILL
Experimental | HD | Color | Stereo | 5‘47“ | Noriyuki Kimura | 2011
Soon after Fukushima nuclear disaster, I tried to make an allegorical story about it with a familiar
landscape. The film title is derived from the oil painting „Road Cut through a Hill“ (1915) by Japanese oil
painter Ryusei Kishida. The voice of „Harakiyo, Harakiyo“ which is repeated in the middle of the soundtrack
was quoted from the TV animation „Urusei Yatsura“. The Japanese word „Harakiyo“ means the
exorcism and purification of impurities, bad vibes that cause illness and other misfortune, devils and
disasters.

UNSER HAUS FOR THE NEW ERA
Music Video | HD | Color | Stereo | 5‘00“ | Noriyuki Kimura | 2013
The video part „UNSER HAUS“ is the observasion record of incident lights in my house in Tokyo which
had been made up into a Camera obscura since 2011. The song on the soundtrack „THE NEW ERA“ is
the automatically-generated music through the algorithmic composition by Japanese composer, Masahiro
Miwa. Five minutes‘ excerpt was cut out from the lasting music. The song has been broadcasted on
his website (http://neuezeit.org), he says it will be continued as long as the electricity will be supplied.

NIJI
Experimental | HD | Color | Silent | 6‘02“ | Noriyuki Kimura | 2016

(I will use a SILENT version of the clip.)
The silent film „NIJI“ shows a transition of colors in a spectrum of light. A performer in Camera obscura
exposed a triangular glass prism to sunlight. He kept it following the sunlight‘s movement throughout the
daytime from sunrise to sunset. The prism reflected various colors on a pinhole image projected on a
screen which shows shifting views over time outside Camera obscura.
