Am Samstag den 02.03. um 20 Uhr in der Park-Kultur erleben Sie gefühlvolle Musik mit der Stimme von Amy Frega und Benedikt Oncue an der Gitarre. Gespielt wird Jazz, Soul, Welt Musik, sowie eigene Originals. Der Eintritt ist frei.
Biographie
Amy Frega machte ihren Bachelor in Performance und Musiktechnologie an der Amerikanischen Universität in Kairo und ihren Master in Gesang an der Robert Schumann Musikhochschule Düsseldorf.
In Kairo trat sie als Jazz- und Popsängerin sowie als Musicaldarstellerin auf. Dort spielte sie beispielsweise die Hauptrollen Audrey in »Little Shop of Horrors« und Leila in »Leila the Musical«. Zudem war sie Teil der ägyptischen Produktion von »Les Misérables«, mit der sie durch die USA tourte.
Seit 2017 lebt Frega ih Düsseldorf, wo sie seither in verschieden Konstellationen arbeitet. In der klassischen Musikszene trat sie in mehreren Lied-Duo-Konzerten auf ( Werken von Mozart, Bellini und Donizetti). Als Solistin trat Frega in Oratorienkonzerten auf, darunter Händels »Messias« im Xantener Dom und Mendelssohns »Psalm 42« sowie »Lobgesang« mit den Niederrheinischen Sinfonikern in St. Cornelius Dülken. In Opernprojekten spielte sie die Rollen Pamina in »Die Zauberflöte« und Susanna in »Die Hochzeit des Figaro«. In den Bereichen Jazz-, Welt- und Populärmusik sowie Improvisatorischer Gesang tritt sie bei eigenen Konzerten auf, wie beispielsweise »Amy Frega in Concert« in der Sammlung Philara. Zudem führte sie als freischaffende Künstlerin ihre selbstgeschriebene Performance im Rahmen der Performance-Reihe »At The Table« der freien Gruppe Projekt-il beim Düsseldorf Festival auf.
Im Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus sang Frega 2018 in der Inszenierung »Jeff Koons« (Künstlerische Leitung: André Kaczmarczyk, Felix Krakau). In der Spielzeit 2021/22 ist sie in der Inszenierung »Orlando« (Regie: André Kaczmarczyk) als »A Voice« zu Gast.
Amy Frega’s love for singing started at an early age. Singing in church choirs and amateur bands.
She then went on to follow her passion in a serious manner by pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music at the American University in Cairo with a double major in Music Technology and Performance in the class of Neveen Allouba. During her studies, she was awarded Highest Achievement in Music Technology and graduated with a Highest Honors award. In the meantime, she started her career as a Jazz/Pop singer, appearing regularly in some of Cairo’s most popular stages with many band formations, including her duo “Voice and Bass”. She also took her voice to the musical theater stage, where she performed the lead role of Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors”, Leila in the Egyptian musical “Leila”, and toured in the U.S.A. with the Arabic version of “Les Miserables”.
In 2017 she moved to Düsseldorf, Germany, where she finished her Masters in Classical Singing at the Robert Schumann Music College. Since her time in Germany, she has been performing in both the Jazz/Pop and Classical scene. Some of her rather Jazz/Pop and improvisational performances include her solo performance in the production of “Jeff Koons” by the Düsseldorf Theater, her collaborations with Projekt-il in performance art events, her own Concert at the Philara Collection, as well as regularly taking part in the “Cultural Exchange and Integration through Performing Arts” program in Greece.
The classical side of her life includes many Lied duo performances, one of which was broadcasted on WDR 3 radio station, as well as being a soloist in Oratorio concerts, of which are: Handel’s “Messiah”, and Mendelssohn’s “Psalm 42” and “Lobgesang”. Last but not least, her appearance in Opera productions, most importantly as Pamina in “The Magic Flute” and Susanna in “The Marriage of Figaro”.
Frega considers herself an interdisciplinary artist, having immense joy in creating performances that involve multiple directions of artistic and musical expression. The latest example would be her self-written performance “Tarabeza” as a part of the ”At the Table” project by Projekt-il shown in the Düsseldorf Festival 2021, as well as her self-written solo and collaboration in the performance of ”Grandmothers of the Future” by waltraud900 collective.
